Kevin R. Parkhurst is a Master Scuba Instructor and a Public Safety Diving Instructor responsible for training Police and Firefighters in the art of Water Rescue and Recovery. He's a Technical Gas Diving instructor, AAUS Scientific Diver, Dive Medic Instructor, Certified Scuba Technician, a Certified Dive Travel Specialist and a Scuba Marketing Consultant in addition to a Scuba Writer having written several articles for publications like Northwest Divenews and Scuba Press Magazine among others. Kevin has 30 years of diving experience with 28 of those years as a Professional level scuba diver and diving educator. Kevin is an active diver who is consistently teaching scuba to sport divers, Training Police and Firefighters in the specialty of water rescue and recovery and as a Scientific Diver for the University of Washington has traveled all over the world in pursuit of science. With the aide of his wife Julie, Kevin leads cold-water dives around the Pacific Northwest, Canada and Tropical Trips the world over. As a Sport Diver Kevin has logged over 5000 dives in places like the Coral Sea, Fiji, Vanuatu. The Caribbean Sea, Curacao, Cozumel, Belize, Aruba, The Florida Keys, The North Atlantic, The North Pacific, etc. As a Scientific Diver Kevin has spent long months at sea aboard the Research Vessel RV Seward Johnson out of Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, Aboard the Research Vessel RV Savannah out of Savannah Ga and long months camped on Polar Ice. He has logged dives in the Gulf of Mexico, The Geographic North Pole, The Emerald Sea, The Beaufort Sea, The Arctic Ocean, and The Chuckchee Sea. Scientific Diving has led Kevin to dive with the US Navy's Experimental Diving Unit out of Coastal Systems Station, Panama City as well as with divers from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Scripts Institute etc. Additionally Kevin has been awarded Certificates of Achievement by the Center for Marine Conservancy, The Coral Reef Alliance, The Ocean Conservancy and Project Aware for his efforts to promote a healthy marine environment.
